Anti-Thyroglobulin Antibody (TgAb)
What This Test Measures
Detects antibodies against thyroglobulin protein; elevated in Hashimoto's and thyroid cancer monitoring.
Preparation
No special prep required, but antibody levels naturally fluctuate between draws. The STTM community notes that any detectable antibodies may be significant, even below the lab's flagged threshold. Both TgAb AND TPO should be tested together — you can have one positive and one negative. Functional practitioners aim to reduce antibodies through dietary and supplement interventions. Retest every 3–6 months when tracking. These notes reflect common practices in thyroid/functional medicine communities.
